Busy? Me?

First snow

I feel lazy in not posting in a few days, but I’ve had a lot going on and not enough time to properly devote to posting on here. I’d rather give you something awesome to read than a half-baked post!

Job. My job is hitting its busiest time of the year. Not much else to say here other than in addition to the normal busy time, we have major changes going on at work that’s exponentially adding onto the already busy time. Hoo boy.

Website work. I’ve been working on updating an old website of mine – one that I hand coded in HTML 8 years ago – to convert it to a WordPress install. After working on it non-stop all weekend, I’m about 1/3 done. Egad! But, it needs to be done and it’s been put off long enough!

The other project of improving Health Kitten’s website is taking time as well. I like the theme I have now, but I’m rapidly pushing the boundaries of what I can do with it. So, I’m working on a theme to work with the Thesis framework and hopefully will be ready to launch that by the end of the month.

Workouts. There’s days when I get home and think “I don’t want to go back out to the gym!” – especially now that it’s dark out when I get home *sob* – and I’ve really been forcing myself to go. I’m always glad I did, but that doesn’t make it any less difficult to go in the first place! ;)

Going Vegetarian.Researching and planning our transition to vegetarianism; which involves going through all the cupboards and cleaning things out that aren’t on this plan. I need to figure out how to deal with all the meat in our chest freezer. Perhaps my siblings will buy it off me?

Winterizing the house! Today was the first snowfall of the season here in the Twin Cities. It didn’t stick around, but it got cold enough overnight that this morning we finally turned on the heat! And for us, turning on the heat triggers a number of winterizing projects that we need to complete: insulating the windows, changing furnace filters, cleaning and storing items in the garage and putting all my plants to bed.

We have crappy windows and need to put that 3M window insulating film on them. In the garage, we have “summer mode” and “winter mode”. In the summer, we grill so much that we need to have access to it (in our townhome complex we can’t leave our grills outside) and the garage becomes a catch all for coolers, gardening supplies, recycling, and so on. But in the winter, we tuck the grill away, all my pots get cleaned and stacked in their spot on the shelves, and the cooler and gardening tools get put up and away. It’s like playing a boring game of Garage Tetris! ;)

Garage Cleanup

Garage Tetris!

I could keep posting my laundry list of how I’m way overdue for an oil change, how I need to make an appointment to have my gas meter changed and how I still haven’t cleaned out my fridge (which so desperately needs it). I’m going to have to take a day off work to get it all done, I fear!

I’ll have my interview with my good friend Nick posted in the next few days and hopefully can get back on track next week.

How do you keep sane when you get busy?
